Odissi dancer is also India’s first K-pop star


Korean pop or K-pop is a hit among today’s youth. As K-pop has reached every corner of the world, India’s youth is also part of that huge fanbase and the recent news of 18-year-old Sriya Lenka becoming the first Indian K-pop star was a happy moment for all the fans. Sriya Lenka is originally from Odisha and has learned Odissi classical dance as well as freestyle, hip-hop, and contemporary.

Lenka was chosen through her YouTube audition videos and she will be flying to Seoul for further training. She will be a part of the Korean pop band Blackswan as the 5th member of the band. This group debuted with the album Goodbye Rania in 2020 and their first single Close to Me came out in 2021. As Sriya Lenka begins her K-pop journey we wish her the best in her future endeavors.
